Alberto Garcia

Alberto Garcia is a Filipino photographer based in Edmonton AB Canada.

Garcia is the first Filipino photographer to win the World Press Photo Competition in the Netherlands when he captured the volcanic eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991. His photograph was included in the books of National Geographic's 100 Best and Time Magazine’s Great Images of the century.

Worked at various newspapers in the Philippines covering news events, sports, features, and documentaries and also worked with international agencies, shooting editorial assignments for Time and Newsweek Magazines.

My most recent position was a Photo Editor and Chief Photographer for Manila Bulletin (Philippines), until I moved permanently to Alberta in 2008. This experience solidified my skills not only in photography but in leadership, content planning, and creative direction.

With over 40 years of experience as a photographer - I can define myself as someone who is creative, adaptable, a quick thinker, and someone knows how to use time and resources wisely. I have recently been doing Corporate head shots and Product photography work and would love to expand my experience in creating qaulity images.
